12-year-old cyclist still critical

CLASSMATES and teachers of a boy who is fighting for his life following an accident on his bike have sent a message of support.

Jordan Reid, 12, is in Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, in a critical condition after an accident in Quedgeley which left him with serious head injuries.

The accident, which happened at 6pm on Friday, involved a green Peugeot 406 and happened in Field Court Drive, between Overbrook Road and Quantock Road.

The car was driving in the direction of School Lane roundabout and it is thought Jordan, who lives in Quedgeley, was crossing the road from a park in Field Court Drive when the accident happened.

Now Peter Rowland, Jordan’s headteacher at Severn Vale School in Quedgeley, has wished him a quick recovery.

He said: “We know his family and have spoken to his mother. His brother comes to the school too.

“We have sent his family our best wishes and some flowers too.

“We are extremely worried about Jordan and wish him a speedy recovery.

“The accident did not happen in school hours, but we are obviously worried about all of the pupils who attend the school.”

Mr Rowland added the school has been repeating its road safety messages since the accident.

“We have been relaying the message in assembles recently,” he said.

Visitors to thisisgloucestershire.co.uk added their support for the boy yesterday.

Jacqui, of Quedgeley, said: “I really wish this little boy the strength to pull through this. It’s a terrible accident.”

Emma, of Quedgeley, said: “I wish Jordan a speedy recovery as I know what it’s like as my brother got hurt on the same road about nine years ago.”

Jayne, from Gloucester, added: “Hope Jordan makes a speedy recovery.”
